Coins were minted in Sydney and sent directly to the RM for melting where they extracted the silver and reminted the coins in copper alloy. 🤷‍♂️

 

 

Early Oz sovereigns were made from gold which already had silver imbedded naturally in the ore, so it was simply left in as part of the alloy. This made them more ‘yellow’ than their RM counterparts. About 1870 (without checking) the gas- chlorine method was used to remove the silver. In 1869  the RM started experimenting using ‘Yellow’ gold. At the same time Sydney started using more copper in theirs!  For circulation it was better to have more copper than silver. As our sovereigns today don’t circulate, there’s no reason why the RM could not mint in yellow gold instead of red at no real extra cost!

Of course the RM would have to come up with lots of BS answers for making the ‘ U Turn’ change.

Nope, it's just a normal bullion Jub Sov, soft lighting (greaseproof paper over a lamp), and a good angle. No photoshopping neither.

Ah, that’s how you make all your Sovs. look like a Chinese made fakes - Brown paper! You should send it to the RM and say that’s how I want my next Sov to look. It’s always difficult to get the colour right in a photo as it is . I’ve long forgotten how to use Photoshop and just rely on natural lighting where possible, and basic cropping. You’re clearly a much better photographer- don’t think I like you very much!….😃😩😩
