Help/Advice please QBs 1oz Gold bullion capsules

Recommended Posts

My question is are there available capsules for 1oz gold bullion with a flange on the top like you get with RM proof coins.

I received a gold Beast today ( Tudor Yale ) and it was in a screw capsule with a small flange.
The height of the capsule is 9.0mm
Diameter 3.92cm
Flange diameter 4.12cm

Perhaps you can source some high density foam disks to partially fill the deeper holes ?
I wouldn't be happy with this "Heath-Robinson" solution considering the value of the collection when completed.

If the box was described as a box specifically for Beasts ( silver, gold and platinum ) then the box manufacturer should supply the proper sized trays at no cost to you.

Thanks Pete I take it that was a bullion coin from RM, I have ordered a box of caps from them but is hard to tell if they have a flange at the top. I did think about foam disks but not sure who would sell such a thing.

Yes they were specifically for Silver and gold QBs, what with gold being the same diameter as the pt ordered 2 trays but didn't expect the extra depth, frustrating.

Thanks for your help

Yes regular bullion.

When I have purchased QB gold coins from e.g. Atkinsons I had to add a normal capsule so perhaps they buy tubes.
This latest coin came from Sharps Pixley and was in the sealed RM cardboard sleeve so the RM must be shipping individual coins in screw caps.

I bought a couple of lovely wooden boxes from a fellow SF member called Alun.
He supplied new black hard foam inserts when the "completer" messed up our nice completed QB sets.
I guess he has access to a laser cutting machine as that would be the perfect method to precisely cut the slots.

I have already sounded Alun out about foam inserts and understandably he is only supplying then for his boxes, but the capsule you mentioned would be a perfect solution if i can source them. 👍

I thought you may of had some hollow punches? How else do you get the holes in your rings?😂 on a serious note, can't wait to see the set once you get the case sorted.

I may be talking out of my ring but is whay you want to do is lift the plastic case up so it is proud of the foam? If so why not use so O rings?

I might have got the wrong end of the stick here if so just pat me off to bed again.

The trays for 1oz are twice the depth of the 2oz tray, I wanted them to sit flush but your suggestion is appreciated 👍

Buy another set of one ounce coins and stack on top of each other😂 uniqueness is earned the hard way.
