Newbie Questions - EIC Coins/Bars

Hello,

I am new to your forums - and collecting in general really. I have a collection of Royal Mint sovereigns, some gold/silver Britannia's/Valiants and a 10z bar that I have haphazardly collected over the years after I was first given sovereigns as a present as a child. However, I was considering branching out a bit more. I came across the EIC coins/bars which have some nice designs like the Queen's Virtues but the website only sells proof version (well above a reasonable price for a 1 Oz silver coin) and the 'bullion' versions only seem to be sold on places like Ebay or random coin websites (they aren't anywhere on the official website I can see - neither are the 10 Oz bars).

Generally what does the forum think of the EIC coins? Are they widely collected? Does anyone know where you actually source bullion coins from more officially, if they are worth buying?

Apologies if this is somewhere else on the forum - I couldn't find it - feel free to direct me to another post.

Thanks.

EIC produce some attractive designs, and their quality seems good, but they remain a "premium" priced supplier, where "premium" is means expensive.

If their "bullion" coins were available at truly competitive prices, they would be quite readily available from numerous sources including @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer.

For example https://www.chards.co.uk/2019-silver-spade-guinea-st-helena-one-ounce-bullion-coin/8115 (Sold Out).

I would not try to discourage you from buying coins you might like or enjoy owning, but here is an advice page I drafted recently which might be helpful:

https://www.chards.co.uk/blog/advice-guide-for-uk-bullion-investors/1041

EIC proof coins, as here: https://www.chards.co.uk/products/eic-coins-and-coin-sets can usually be bought at much lower premiums or prices than when newly issued.

I hope this helps.

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.

I did see this but I wasn't sure if they were reputable (apologies if they are run by anyone on the forum!) and I thought it seemed odd that the company who sells the bullion coins/bar doesn't list them on the website but there are loads on eBay, which made me rather feel they might be fakes!

Silver Trader is a very good dealer, the prices are with postage included and they offer discounts for mulitple orders or even paying by BT

I can vouch for him and so can a lot of members on here i imagine.

He is also a member on here but doesnt comment much
