The Premiums on fractionals are shocking imo right now I'd certainly go for a 1oz coin re value for money, but only my opinion

Depends what you buy and where from doesn't it?

HGM have 2% spot sovereigns and 3% spot fractional coins http://www.hattongardenmetals.com/buy/cid0/all-stock

No benefit to buying 1 oz (other than saving a little on postage over time)

Its horses for courses I guess and the relationship you may or may not have with a dealer or two. Wouldnt disagree with  what Kman says, its just its HGM again , not my fav supplier at the moment, but the point is valid and well made.

Again take sovereignsteves point "you can generally sell an ounce of sovereigns for more than a 1oz bullion coin", in fact I believe that should always be the case,.

However  always been my experience, I cant remember any transactions when it was any different that I bought the 1 ounce coin for significantly less than an equivalent 1 oz of gold in sovereigns and have always found that better value for money.........all opinions...
