Fake Sunshine Bars

Can anyone tell if these are fake or real just by the pics ??

They are part of a job lot i bought ..

If the capsules corners were more squared that would be a sign but looks like those edoes of the capsules are more rounded. Have you done any tests?

the capsules are mine .. the bars came loose ..

my son has been "testing" his silver .. so i have more acid on the way ! think he tested everything in the house .

Did the tests appear fine? Which tests has he done? But the fake bars are plentiful on a site called aliexpress you would get results for sunshine, johnson matthey and nwtm bars.

no . ne used all MY acid on HIS coins .. i have none left .. its on its way ..

just wondered if they were obvious fakes ..

They came from my local coin shop .

Although definitive the acid test can be destructive and may affect the value of the coins/ bars. I would recommend trying less destructive tests.

The corners look right, the disk is frosted which is right and the font looks right

 

Also looks like a milk spot after the word FINE

 

I'd still want to test them if i wasn't 100%

 

You need to look up the size and thickness.. Can't remember exactly but the thickness should be somewhere near 2.5mm

I vote magnet test (you can test many coins and bars

without running out )

also sg test one if you are still unsure.(all bars are identical

in size and probably weight so it's a case of one is a good

representation of the many in this case)

 

edit: you could also try measuring all four stacked together

and check it against the density of silver.

don't use acid and ruin them,   if they pass a  magnet + Specific gravity it is almost a guarentee

I usually do the Magnet test and the ice test if I'm in doubt - both very quick and simple and will flush out 98% of fakes.
