Half guineas

Recommended Posts

In my experience guineas are not easy to grade and I wouldn't trust anyone's statement without seeing it.

Half guineas are numismatic so gauging the value of one is down to grade, rarity and what people are paying. The latter not easy as market is small.

Also watch out for ex-mounts (check for edge damage soldering etc.) Very common with guinea denominated coins, they were hugely popular in Victorian times in jewellery. Being an ex-mount isn't an issue when it comes to buying/selling these coins, they will always sell, but the value will be lower and the coin collectors will generally swerve them.
