Silver bullion bar damage thoughts

Recommended Posts

Hello, this is my first post. I am looking to invest into physical silver and have come across 2 bars that look like good value. My question is regarding the marks and damage on these bars. Specifically, the golden colored mark on top and cracks on the side of bar 1, and the black marks on bar 2. Bar 2 seems to have PVC damage on the right side if I'm not wrong. What else should I be paying attention to on these bars and how likely are they to not be real silver? They were refined by United States Silver Corporation and hallmarked 1958.

All help highly appreciated. Thanks!BAR1.thumb.png.042a4d3c3486a460239faedaf5b32d47.pngBAR11.png.9265aa44f4599ffc4b36e6bce6c959f0.pngimperfections.JPG.e3cc87efd7beaf9af0f50c0ff1546e6a.JPG2112103584_BAR2.thumb.png.d131397f0f5f4bb25b289ef0ceaed104.png894906484_BAR2SIDE.thumb.png.e09bbac3b7abdad00865a6c1591cb8bc.pngbar22.JPG.d1243f658a763b44a2c040f2e50a4588.JPG

Those are some nice looking bars to me!

Thank you for the reply. Any idea if a silver bar developing a golden color spot as on bar 1 is due to corrosion or something else? Thank you

I have seen in many instances silver forming a natural golden color as a result of toning (obviously vastly different from actual gold).  That spot that you mention appears to be a tiny crevice, as a result of the pour, which is also quite common with these types of bars.
