I'd rather take my chances with the garden-variety burglar who can be taken down with lead , rather than the vampire squid on whom I'd have to waste my silver bullets.

if you have some money then there's always the risk.

people should consider locking much of their wealth

in something like a house that can't be easily stolen

from you when you come to retire.

You cannot use a lead pipe, but it is OK to use a hammer that you have been using for diy as long as you don't hit him in the back of the head. 

This type of crime is rare in the UK and if one was to keep money at home a smaller sum would be available to divert the scum. I personally do not keep money at home apart from spends.
