I collect for similar reasons. My kid gets an oz of silver for every A on his report card. Its beautiful and not easy to spend. When he's done with his education he'll be able to see and hold his hard work. I told him he'd get an oz of gold for straight a's but that's unlikely to happen.

@cameroneod love this idea. My son almost three years old about start full time nursery great incentive scheme rather than sweets/chocolates or paper money. Going to back to do the same.
