Well it is not a UK hallmark, my best guess would be an American makers mark. The 925 would suggest it is sterling silver and then plated with gold (solid gold rings would have been marked with their carat content, I.e. 9k 14k etc).

If you google F in diamond hallmark you could probably narrow it down.

But because it is not a UK hallmark it is not as easy to trace all of the particulars!

Thanks but the symbol for Fessenden & Co has a different hallmark. The F is in the type of diamond found on a playing card, not a jewel shaped diamond. See the attached image.

Ah, I see now.  I have got home and taken another look at your item, this time on my desktop computer rather than my iphone.  

Hope you solve the mystery.  Its a lovely ring.
