fossiker got a reaction from stefffana in Moroccan silver coins
thanks so much Steffana and Silverlocks, I may go back to the same place and buy a few more in Tiznit. Wikipedia says: "Jewish silversmiths moved into the town and established its reputation as the center of gold and silver handicraft in Morocco." But silver is widespread around the nation, apart from a massive amount of jewellery, many traditional dagger sheaths and other antique items with a high silver content.

They're still making the 1780 thalers. You can get them from Muenze Osterrich or various coin dealers.

Hi, @fossiker. Nice coins, indeed.
Some realistic prices to sell them would be:
1 Thaler Maria Theresia: @20€-21€.
500 Francs 1956: @23€-25€
10 Dirhams 1917: @40€-45€.
On Ebay are various prices, but the coins don't sell being way overpriced.
I hope this helps.

I picked up these three coins recently in Morocco: Maria Theresa Thaler, a 1956 500-franc and a 10 dirham.
The Thaler is supposed to be .833 silver, .166 copper. At 28g it has a melt value of about €15.86. they are all dated 1780 but were re-minted up to 1860's.
I have seen various prices on internet, wondering what a realistic sell price would be?
The 500-france is supposed to be .9 fine silver, and at 22.38g has a melt value of €13.69. Wondering if this too is worth anymore?
The 1917, 12 dirhams is 12.44g - not sure if it too is .9 silver. 12.43g - melt value €7.61. Sell price?

fossiker got a reaction from trp in Salvador Dali's "Ten Commandments" silver coin set
Hello newbie here, a would be stacker and collector. I am wondering if anyone has come across these coins designed by Dali - 10 coins about 50g each, .999 solid silver. Saw this one that went for auction at just under $1500: https://daliauctionwatch.blogspot.com/2011/05/dalis-ten-commandments-medals.html
What do members think, is that a reasonable price or are they worth less or more?
Thanks!

Just received this one in the mail box today - 100g Silver bullion from one of our Portuguese refineries (Albino Moutinho).
These are fairly popular in Portugal.
