  1. It sounds like you think I don’t agree with you 🤔
  2. No stress at all. Always great advice from members. They’re going back tomorrow 🙏
  3. Thank you Petra. Very, very true 👍. I know this is a bit of a random question but were you a member on the Banksy Forum many years ago? There used to be someone on there with the username Petra too 🙏
  4. Yes I agree I didn’t take the best photos. Have to figure that out. Thanks for your feedback 🙏
  5. Thank you for your response. Sounds like to much hassle. They’ll be going back tomorrow but nice to have in my possession, even if it was for just a day 🙏
  6. From the sounds of things they’ll be going back tomorrow 😉
  7. And here I was just yesterday saying what a nice and friendly place TSF is 👍👍👍
  8. Oops 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
  9. It’s how I got them. I never handled them with bare hands. Did I do something wrong 🤷‍♂️
  10. Thanks James. Kind of what I thought. About half the price of a mint set with a box 👍
  11. Just asking what you think it’s worth in this condition. I’ve been doing some research and have seen some auction results. Seems to be around £10-£11k for mint sets in the box. So I’m guessing this might half of that 🤷‍♂️
  12. Hi All, So this morning I get a call from my local coin dealer. I say local but he’s 45 minutes one way by car as I live in a rural area. He tells me he has something I might be interested in and if I could go and see him. Well, when I get that kind of call from him it’s always served me well in the past. So I dipped my work and headed off. When I arrived and he gave me the coins my jaw dropped. Literally. My hands actually started to shake lol 😂. I had a quick look and he said are you interested. I was like “is Schwarzenegger hard to spell”. YES off course I’m interested. However I’m not a collector and so would be looking to sell this set on, as I can’t afford a purchase like this to hold on to. So I asked the price. He said there are some condition issues and I could take them home, have a proper look and then make him an offer. I really didn’t want to and gave him the coins back but he insisted. So here I am reaching out to all the sovereign experts on TSF for some advice. As far as I can tell the £2, Sovereign and half sovereign look ok…..ish. However not the £5. There are 3 small dings on the edge (photographed) and scratches on the Obverse. Don’t understand how this was handled in the past. My gut feeling is to offer him €7000 euros for the set based on condition, but I could be way off either side. I just don’t know. Should I just walk away due to the condition? Look forward to hearing back from you and if anyone’s interested in this set you’re more than welcome to message me directly. Thanks in advance T 🙏
  13. In 20 years time will we be looking back and saying the exact same thing 🤔
  14. “If only we knew then, what we know now” 🙏
  15. Hey 👋, I completely understand your point of view. Like you I’m from the EU and Portugal especially has one of the worst customs authorities in the world (said the DHL Portugal agent). If you noticed in my post I did say that I knew when joining that it wasn’t about being able to buy and sell for me, for all the reasons you state. I joined the silver membership because I received a lot of great advice from members and learned a lot from reading other posts. So the crunch of what I was saying was that the buying and selling is a bonus but supporting TSF (like people do with Patreon accounts) is for me a big THUMBS UP 👍 to say thank you 🙏
  16. This post is really for all non paying TSF members. However it will probably resonate with a lot of paid members too. ***I haven't been asked to write this but it is a kind of testimonial*** When I started buying precious metals years ago it wasn't a problem, as I would buy current year silver and gold bullion, and directly from very reputable online dealers. As the years went on I started getting more interested in older coins, sovereigns to be specific. However I had very little, to no knowledge on what to look for. So as I started to do research online and TSF posts kept coming up. So one day I decided to join. It's great that you can get so much information on here and post questions without being a paid member. I learned so much just from being in the background and reading all the new threads and responses. So a little time later after becoming acquainted to the site, I bit the bullet and started a new topic. I can't remember what my first question was, but all I can remember that after all the responses, it saved me making a very costly purchase on a coin. I continued to stay on as a free member for a little while longer, mostly because I didn't have the time to be more active, and then found I had to ask another question. Again loads of responses and very helpful advice from members. I then took a moment and thought to myself. If it wasn't for TSF, I could have lost a lot of money, and also not made purchases that I would have normally passed on. So I decided to become a silver premium member. I pay £5.99 a month (the price of a coffee and croissant in London) and off course with becoming a paid member I can buy and sell on here, but that wasn't my intention. I knew it would be very unlikely that I would buy much due to the fact that I currently live in Portugal. I did it because I wanted to support the forum, due to how members have helped me. On a side note, if you are in the UK and are interested in buying PM's (Precious Metals), then there are some amazing deals to be had on here. I cry sometimes at how cheap things are, compared to dealers, ebay and over here in Portugal. I really don't care if the owner is making a big profit or not. They are providing a safe, friendly and very helpful service, that I hope to be part of for many years to come. So for the sake of £5.99 a month, I would highly suggest you get your credit/debit cards out, buy a premium membership, and support TSF. It's money well spent and if you're buying PM's. you'll save that several times over when you make a purchase. Just my personal TSF experience. Peace and love to all at TSF 🙏 (God knows we need it)
  17. I'm exactly in the same position, albeit from Europe. Unless it's very near to spot, it's hard to sell on here. Proof's don't seem to hold much extra premium than normal bullion, neither do very rare collectibles. I put a Numista, 100 rarity rated, 10oz, silver proof coin on here last week, and got private messages from buyers offering me the same price as a normal 10oz coin/bar. Also I had private messages telling me that it's one of the cheapest places to buy PM's on here, and there are facebook groups where buyers easily pay more. So like one of the members said, you're best bet if you want to get the highest price would be ebay, which is the likely direction I'm going down. it's risky but what's the alternative? Giving things away. I personally would not bother with having it graded as you're only going to sink more money into the coin. However as always your choice.
  18. Amazing response thank you. Looks like we’ve gone through more or less the same ups and downs. I think if I was living in the U.K. I’d have a lot more joy on here. I think buyers are worried as I’m sending from Portugal, although I mention I’m covering all the shipping and taxes. So I don’t see another option for me to reach a broader international audience. The market here in Portugal is just way too small. I guess I’m going to have to give it a go and see what happens 🙏
  19. What a great price. I am so tempted 🤔
  20. Great. Didn’t know about this site 👍
  21. Hi @ChrisSilver 👋 As you can see I am a paid member. Granted only a silver member but I feel I contribute to the Forum. In fact I had actually planned on putting a post up tomorrow encouraging those unpaid members to become paid members. Not because of the buying and selling, but from my personal experience the amount of help I have had from here in such a short amount of time, has not only increased my knowledge but saved me thousands in possible mistakes. Wether it be because I am based in Portugal or for some other reasons, I have only sold one item on here which went very smoothly. I would off course prefer to sell on here first and deal directly with buyers, heck I even offer to send the item first, which I’d NEVER do on any other site. That’s the confidence I have with the majority of members on here. I even said I would post on here first and then Ebay as an alternative, and was looking for sellers experiences. I just need to downsize my collection without giving it away. Thank you for providing this platform and may it long continue 🙏
  22. This is another example of a coin which has no mint mark (i.e London) but was never minted in London. Thank you for sharing 🙏
