Just had to pour more silver this evening.......think i might have a problem

Hi all!

 

I couldn't resist the temptation and ended up purchasing some more fine casting grain this morning. It was just sitting on my shelf, calling out to me, so I had to go ahead and melt it down tonight. So i thought i would share my evening's fun with you. Silver pouring has become incredibly addictive for me, and this is only my second week! I'll have to make another trip to the refiners ASAP!

 

I wanted to share with you all the bits I created using original antique pieces i own. This time, I attempted another oval grand tour intaglio piece, which turned out even better than before. I also tried my hand at a side profile portrait of an English Georgian gentleman in a round, they have a nice, chunky feel to them. Additionally, I created a small Italian classical figure with goat button round and some bars with a cool fossil petrified tree bark effect. I thought it would be interesting to show you my progress as it might be of interest to some of you.

Thank You DThing, i was very pleased with those, wasn't too sure how they would look, but came out really well, was a pain to do the set up as i had to do quite a few impressions until i got the right look, but great as they are unique to the tree bark, i got a good fossilised chunk i used, probably millions of years old, so was nice to use it for something rather than it just sitting on the shelf. Hopefully will do more experiments when i get more silver grain! although its getting expensive may have to try and get some money back by selling a few!

Very nice start of your new hobby and I am sure your skills will improve quick and steady and very soon you will start to sell from your products.

From what I have seen so far on forum, will be difficult to sell your silver art pieces without proper british hallmarks, so your next step should be sending them to an Assay Office.

Yes many thanks Stefffana, thank you for your kind words, i did indeed yesterday morning register with the Birmingham Assay Office, so hopefully in a couple of weeks i can get a few things hallmarked and see if i can find some peeps

to buy a few bits!
