Gold Bars HS Tariff Code

Does anyone have any experience in either shipping or receiving gold bullion bars and what the correct HS Tariff code should be?

I have my little 1g gold bars of which some are going to the EU and I want to get the right code. 

My understanding is that gold of course is vat exempt.

Hi, I've no idea, but have you checked https://www.gov.uk/trade-tariff ? Sorry if that is obvious and you've already looked there.

It says on the gov website that you can "Use this service to find a commodity code for goods you’re importing to or exporting from the UK."

I have indeed. 

It was not an easy service to use to check.

That said, after a number of different searches I found that 7118900000 is the correct code.
