How are you currently buying silver?

Waiting for a dip? Or pound cost average?

  1. 1. The bears seem to be out everywhere so I am just trying to gauge the general feeling.

    • Waiting for a significant dip with cash on the side

    • Still pound cost averaging regardless of the general mood of the markets.

My initial strategy is buying various sets of silver coins to make about 60 oz of bullion, and I've just bought the last of these.  For the next while, I'm mostly sticking to buying a bit of semi-numismatic stuff like the Tudor beasts set.  Most of the emphasis for the next year is heavier on gold, averaging a sovereign or quarter ounce coin a month with a few big ticket items like 1oz coins as I have the spare cash.  At the moment my plan is to finish out this year with about 50g of gold and buy about £5-6k worth next year plus a bit more numismatic silver.  For silver, I may buy something bigger like a tube of coins or a bar if one comes along at the confluence of the right price and spare cash.

After next year I might step up the cadence a bit.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.
