Coin Fairs

The only one I've been to is at York race course which is supposed to be one of the biggest, but I didn't rate it much.I am interested in mainly Australian silver coins and proofs and there was virtually nothing to buy,a couple of stands had a few bits but nothing I hadn't already got and no lunar proofs at all series 1 or 2.

Verdict I wouldn't go there again.

The problem with common sense is, its not that common.

Quite a distance from where i am but have friends in Manchester so could arrange a weekend visit to coincide with a York or Birmingham show as a To Do while i am there.

The fairs by the sound of it are for the numi's i guess? More the crown collectors, sov's and pre decimal stuff. I can think about this at a later date.

Not a fair, but always worth a look out for is Lockdales auctions based in Ipswich and which is purely coin and medal sales. (http://www.lockdales.com)

Started out as quarterly auctions and then went bi-monthly, and currently is now monthly and spread over two days.

It you follow the link above you can subscribe to their catalogue.

Over the years I have picked up a few bargains from them, and it is definitely more towards the numismatics, but occasionally they do have bulk bullion
