1889 one dollar help

Recommended Posts

They are called Hobo Dollars and involve  a person re-working one side of a coin to create a unique artwork. There are lots of these that are hand crafted and can be worth a decent amount but there are also numerous cast versions of these coins.

Hi @Dan12345

I am pretty sure yours is what people on ebay euphemistically refer to as 'Fantasy pieces' or more accurately a counterfeit.

It appears to be cast and artificially aged, with what look like pop marks on various areas of the coin and a pretty unusual date!

Thanks for the replys peps.

It does definitely look like a print rather than been hand Cary but does also appear to be silver and definitely isn't and different to the other silver dollars that I have

Hi Dan

Get it tested if you are not sure but these sell on Chinese websites for around a pound….which means it’s unlikely to contain silver.
