Storage

Novice gold/silver stacker here (sorry if I’ve posted this in the wrong place).

I’m wondering what the best option for storing my collection is. I know we’re not supposed to care about the condition of bullion but I think we can all agree once you’ve got a significant amount of money in it it’s natural to worry about resale value.

It puzzles me a bit why the Royal Mint can’t at least bring out capsules that stop the coins from rattling around on the inside! I know there are airtites but I’m wondering if there are any professional services that will do this for you i.e. seal them in airtight, non-reactive containers without going to the expense of grading etc.?

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You can get your coins graded and slabbed. That is really the best way to store them. Grade them so they're slabbed, buy slab plastic sealed bags, and then put those in a slab case. You can't get them safer than that.

If the OP had some rare collectible bullion or semi-numismatic coins, I’d agree with you.  But your suggestion seems like overkill (to me at least).  There is a cost to get coins graded and slabbed.  Not sure if it’s worth it for regular bullion.

I do that with anything over $2,000 or if it's a proof.
