  1. Hi everyone, Does anyone know about the 2022 proof gold Dragon? Last year they released it near mid-late September but I don't see it in the catalog. Anyone know anything about this? This was the 2021 design. https://www.apmex.com/product/238385/2021-p-australia-1-oz-gold-dragon-pr-70-pcgs-fs
  2. I just picked up this 2021 Proof Dragon from APMEX. They still had a few last time I checked but probably won't last the week. It's limited to 188 coins only about 40 have been graded at 70 by PCGS.

  4. I do that with anything over $2,000 or if it's a proof.
  5. You can get your coins graded and slabbed. That is really the best way to store them. Grade them so they're slabbed, buy slab plastic sealed bags, and then put those in a slab case. You can't get them safer than that.
  6. Initially I liked Germania Mint and welcomed their rounds despite not being real coins. I collected one of each Oak leaf, bought the silver warrior Berserk round, and was looking forward to the Germania Beasts. Then they released the blue and purple dragon on APMEX for north of $900 for 2oz of silver. It looks like some kind of medallion you get when visiting a renaissance festival, and not worth the $850 premium. Then they decided to not put out a Chestnut gold BU round, just the proof, which interrupts my forests collection.
  7. For me it would be more about the collecting all the "mythical creatures" series by Perth. They are supposed to put out one a year for the next few years.
  8. APMEX put this up today as a coming soon alert me with no price. I did a trick I always do to price check, and added this coin to my "current holdings" to look at APMEX's "current value" estimation. It looks like they will sell this for ~$1950 which is about $750 over spot price. I think the low mintage of 150 made the premium high. Is anyone getting this?
  9. Royal Mint capsules are fine to send to NGC. You don't want to open them especially if they are proof 24k gold and risk scratches simply to transfer them to a flip. I've sent plastic capsules to NGC many times.
  10. NGC is much more relaxed than PCGS in my experience. You can send them coins in their plastic snap-caps or flips and they don't give you any issue. You print 3 forms that look the same one NGC copy, Receiving, and Shipping, and a 4th page which allows NGC to open any graded slabs for re-grading if you're sending them slabs. The will register on your submission page when they receive it, and then you just wait for their return. I was scared the first time I mailed out thousands of dollars too but you can insure the package. It's pretty easy.
  11. I wish all of you in the UK and Australia had the same gun rights, and free speech as the US. It would go a long way to curb your governments from being less tyrannical, and arresting people for Facebook posts, and confiscating kitchen and yard tools.

  14. Very very nice. I'll take some pictures of my Radian baby in a while to share with you. I built her myself.

  17. Yeah. I understand it enough. I don't want to buy numbers on a screen.
  18. Please wait to squeeze Platinum until I have more of it. ๐Ÿ˜‚
  19. I thought about buying this. Would you guys recommend this or a 1 kilo silver bar for my budget next month?
  20. I am trying to decide if I should have NGC grade it or not.
  21. The 20 is a privy mark they put on the proof coins to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first penny black coin put out in 1970. That is according to APMEX https://www.apmex.com/product/53190/1990-isle-of-man-1-oz-proof-gold-penny-black-gem-ngc
  22. I just bought a Perth Mint 2019 Platinum Dragon. I hope they release more of these dragons with different designs. This is actually my first piece of platinum. I think the hold up for me has been aesthetics. Most of the platinum coins are either bullion designs like with Britannias or Philharmonics, or those American Eagles where the statue of liberty looks ugly.
  23. I've been researching these Penny Black coins online and the mintage numbers are contradictory for the 1990s 150th anniversary coins. I've found some sites that say the mintage was 500 coins in 1990 and others say 1,000 for the 1oz gold. This coin also comes in a 1/5th oz gold from 1990, a silver, and a copper nickel. On Ebay there are a lot of Copper Nickel ones being passed off as Silver. I got this gold one for $2,200, but I've seen them on Ebay for fantastical prices of $6,500. The gold 1/5 oz versions go for around $800 from 1990. There are also a bunch from 2015 for the 175th anniversary and some from 2020 for the 180th. Those range in size and metal composition. There is a giant one in silver 5oz which goes for $1200 on Ebay, and I believe a gold 1/10th an ounce from 2015 or 2020.
  24. I just purchased it so it is still in shipping but once I get it in my hands I'll weigh it. I think my best bet will be to weigh a known 1oz coin with NGC slab, then weigh this one for an accurate weight of the coin. Supposedly it is 1oz of gold but on the description it said 2oz, which confused me. How much does yours weigh?
