Silver purchase.

Is now a good time to purchase silver? Sorry for the noob question I only own gold.

I guess it depends on the type of silver you want to purchase.

If you want to stack your traditional government minted Britannias then you have a high silver price and all these VAT changes to contend with at the moment, but you have to start somewhere and the current purchasing conditions will no doubt change over time.

If you want to collect your high end silver then the premiums are so large compared to the underlying silver price the VAT change probably wont make much of a difference to the purchase price.

given that you dont have any in your portfolio, it would be worth acquiring some anyway. 

 

as a guide you should seek to hold 8-25 ounces of silver, for every ounce of gold. currently the ratio is 72, which is quite favourable
