Antique shop spot pick up

Made a nice pick up yesterday in a small antique shop in Dorset. Was walking around with mum and the wife and decided to take a look around the antique shop while waiting for them.

I asked the guy if he had any coins and he said it wasn't his area but he did have some bullion coins that he'd picked up for spot a while ago, when spot was around £10. I offered him £12.50 p/oz which he was happy to take.

The maples are a bit toned, but it's for weight, so all good.

But there is that 1900 crown. I've checked online and it appears that they have been copied/reproduced but I can't find anything on comparisons. If anyone can shed some light it would be appreciated.

There are some things wrong-looking on this crown coin. First, it appears to have been mounted in jewellery at some time in the past. Secondly, the wear pattern is not normal looking. Details are smoothed-over making this look like it's been plated or something. Did you try applying a strong magnet to it?

Thanks both for your input. I have put a magnet to it and have now done a specific gravity test on it, and all checks out. Unfortunately, as TeaTime said it has been heavily polished. There's also a few edge marks where the coin has been tested using a stone. It's possible it was once mounted but I think more likely it just had a busy and interesting life, picking up a few dings here and there. As it was basicly picked up at spot there's no loss and just makes my bullion pile a bit more interesting.
