I'm not an expert but I think there overpriced compared to other coins. The Noah for example from the same mint and an award winning design much cheaper.

I strongly disagree. The Noah design is constant whereas the Ellies change from year to year and therefore have numismatic value.

The coin also has some history as the series began in the 90's. Finally the coins have a proof like finish so what's not to like.

Oh right ok I wondered what made them so pricey in comparison. I do own just one Somali elephant and it just seems an unremarkable, basic coin.
