I think I will use Atkinson’s next time, I don’t like how they do business. I will pay a few quid extra knowing I’m not funding someone who seems to be targeting the vulnerable.

Atkinson's are good people to do business with.

Imagine collecting your cash for the same reasons....would you collect only 100s, or 100s, 50s, 20, 10 and 5s  so you don't have problems using them when you need to...gold and silver is the same way...if times are tough you don't go into a coin shop and drop a 100 oz ingot onto the counter..you might smash it...but you done have to collect pennys either...it's what you will need it for and how safe it is to have to walk around town with one.

Hi, It depends on where you live on what you buy. I live in western USA and out here sovereigns do not sell that well, I think its because the public does not know the gold content. I talked to coin dealers who say they like the maples, panda, koala or brits better. One thing I do know is if your new to buying gold buy ngc or pcgs graded coins. I have seen lots of fake gold coins over the years and nothing spoils your day faster than buying a fake gold coin.

I wouldn't touch any graded coins. Plenty of fake slabbed coins on the market, and because they are inside a piece of plastic you can never check they are real. Something you can check easily with a coin in your hand.

I know the yanks love their slabbed items, be it trading cards, coins, memorabilia etc, but it hasn't caught on as much outside of the US, no matter what people with vested interests will tell you.

Some people over here buy slabs and slab their stuff but it's not everyone, not even close...it's not worth it for most coins, cards, memorabilia etc...they have to be worth the cost to do..when it's $30 or more to slab and grade something then that something has to rise in price by that amount to be worth it and most things aren't when compared to none slabbed...I have more then 100,000 baseball cards and I'd say I have less then 50 worth getting graded and slabbed, the same goes for most people's coins.
