Sandpaper

Hi folks I hope you do not mind me asking my 2nx dumb question.

I am starting to gather a nice wee pile of. 925 silver ready to learn my melting and pouring and I am wondering what sandpaper to use and if you use any oil to bring out the shine and mirror finish

35 years ago before joining the military I was serving my time as a toolmaker. When polishing the tool (I can hear snigger - dirty boys lol) I was using honing stones, fine sand paper the. Diamond compounds to give the tool a mirror finish. Now that will be to tough for the bars so if you could suggest what type and grade of paper to get and oil to use that would be great

Have great weekend

Always cast your vote - Spoil your ballot slip. Put 'Spoilt Ballot - I do not consent.' These votes are counted. If you do not do this you are consenting to the tyranny. None of them are fit for purpose.
A tyranny relies on propaganda and force. Once the propaganda fails all that's left is force.

Just like polishing your tool, a blade or anything metal.

Start with a rougher grade and work through to finer removing any marks from the previous paper.

I'd probably just use water instead of oil.  Wet and dry paper would probably do fine and comes in plenty of grits.
