Spots or Scratches - Premium % reduction

Good morning Forum

I have recently been offered some Queens Beasts Lions with slight milk spotting.

Should I buy these given I have seen BYB’s video on how to remove Milk spotting and the risk incurred?

I have seen other members offer premium coins with slight scratching which needless to say they are open and honest about but were sold at a reduced premium albeit one all parties were happy with.

I was interested in the forums view on what is worse in their opinion scratches  or spotting?

What kind of reduction on premium I should be offering given a 2oz Lion can go from anywhere between £70-90.

many thanks

Jack

If you ask 10 members, you might get 10 different answers to this one..it all depends on how your ‘collectors brain’ works !

Regards to a modern bullion coin......

Some people are happy just to have the coin regardless of spots or the odd scratch, others prefer a better condition coin.

Personally...given a choice.. I would never buy a coin knowing it has either milk spotting or a scratch, but I have to pay a premium to do this.

If a coin is scratched you should try to get it as close to spot as you can...everyone’s price point will be different...hence, only one person every wins at an auction!

I’ve only one Maple and it has a milk spot, am I worried about it? Not particularly.

The QB’s and Britannia’s, clear of any infection

I read somewhere that the spots can be removed with an India rubber.
