Very sad day for me , just noticed Atkinsons price for 2014 gold sovereigns has just hit £200 again, was rather hoping the price was going to stay low for the rest of the year at least so i could get some more before the price went up, oh well thats life i guess, just hope this gold price does not go too silly over next year, fingers crossed.

Bullion centre 198.95 delivered.

Of course HGM is better if you are not after new.

EDIT...prices updated, BC appears better now. Can anyone vouch for the quality of their used Sovs? Much wear and tear?

Currently stacking 1/4 oz (22ct) and Sovs.

Hi Bob, i have bought 2 mixed year sovereigns from BC, they even found me a specific year, i was very happy with them both but one was a bit  worn with a few marks. But to be fair that is what your paying less for, their service was fantastic. If your more a collector it might be wise to pay a bit more for specific year sovs, but if it is just bullion then i can highly recommend the Bullion centre.Hope i have been some help.

Just for info. Got a few from HGM. No wear and tear as they are all in the original 2010 packaging.

Currently stacking 1/4 oz (22ct) and Sovs.

Personally I've never seen the point of buying new bullion Sovs. Unless of course you are buying for a present for a new baby etc. They cost more than a random sov and they won't go up in value next year above what any other random sov costs

Concur, if not a collector, why pay more than 3 - 4 percent over spot.

Currently stacking 1/4 oz (22ct) and Sovs.

I'm not sure, one day when the queen goes on will they have two monarchs in one year or do they wait until next? So if she went before 2015 and they have only made 10000 they could be a premium

Lol so you are betting on the Queen going to the big palace in the sky in order to make a profit. If she is anything like her mum she will still be around for another decade or so

I wonder what design they will do for her platinum Jubilee in 2022

She'll have to stop there because it all goes down hill after that.

Although the 70th is platinum, in the UK, the 80th is oak, the 85th is wine, and the 90th is stone.  :D

Not sure you can do much with the Queens Oak or Stone Jubilee. Although the Wine Jubilee might be a laugh

Maybe less likely to buy a fake if they come direct from RM to atkinsons and then to you ;)

I never worry about fakes. I check all coins I get and all dealers will take back fakes that slip through and eBay will refund money.

Lol the fake comments was just a bit of tongue in cheek about the alleged fake :)

I would agree that bullion sovs should be bought as cheaply as possible.. Thats the whole point of bullion.. But that said ..I've had some very nice sovs from HGM at bullion prices

I know they received the coin this morning, still waiting for an email with the verdict though.

I'd like to think it was genuine and checked by them before sending.. But it did look cast to me.. It still could have been a 22k jewelers piece but a coin dealer should be able to spot that.

Did you buy anything with your refund?

Nope (I did buy a silver lunar rabbit yesterday from Arshimo on here but I don't that can count.)

Will wait for a nice older shield back sovereign to come along

Or I might buy a proof 2002  sovereign if one comes up at a good price.

I also would really like a 1989 sovereign at the right price.
