I wasn't complaining that half the world's population lives on less than 2.5$us/day,

Every one has money problems when you are at the bottom my council tax bill arrived last week and works out at $6.37/day.      Don’t think $2.50 would be any good here

You are right we are very wealthy compared to much of the world but it doesn't change the fact silver is too bulky, too heavy, and too expensive both buying and selling to be in the same category as gold for storing our wealth. Gold is the better medium. Silver is nice I have some but if I buy it instead of gold until retirement I'll need much more space. And space is expensive compared to the rest of the world.

The same arguments you made about silver could apply to copper and I know people have sheds full of that stuff too. Stored in their very own first world shed! People don't know they are born!

I have 1300oz of silver; it takes up 3 monster boxes and the dimensions are very roughly about 1 cubic ft. Sure, if it was gold then it would only take a fraction of the space for the same amount of wealth, but when you compare it to all the other JUNK that we clutter our homes and our lives with then it really is volumetrically still very, very small- comparable to:

3 or 4 books in a bookshelf
A couple of shoeboxes
A houseplant
That fondu set in the back of the cupboards
A couple of boxes of washing powder

you get the idea..

I could stack many, many times what I already hold and still not consider it even a small issue.
