Silver on fire tonight. 30p jump with the open in Asia. 1.5% in less than an hour.

Back in 2020 the high was £22.725, today's high £22.895. Last time it was higher was all the way back in 2012 and 2011. Still a long to go for that.

I think it's partly because no one expected it. That phrase about the "market existing to disappoint the most number of people" really seems to hold some weight sometimes. The QE times made no sense at all. It was strange to see vast amounts of nothing created and theoretically used to purchase real money and it not effect the price positively. And then now, rates not coming down and gold powers on up against the expectations of those who piled in short. As you say, no one really knows why, best just to enjoy the show.

Seems incredible that gold has put on 18% in just under 6 weeks. And it's done it by breaking the strong inverse correlation with the dollar. The contrarian in me says to sell a bit and take something off the table, but I really don't know if this might just keep going? Short term maybe a bit of a pause or a drop has to come eventually, but this year if they do finally cut rates then there's even more fuel for PM's to react positively. In the meantime its trying for 1900 again. £1894 and rising...

Well it's been an incredible day. I've been here almost the whole day trying to do other things as well as monitor and comment. Looking good for the two who declared Up on Wednesday for the poll..... Just 36 hours ago the consensus here was neutral for the close at the end of this week. It's certainly been lively since then.

Day job?

Yeah it feels like something has changed a bit. Just watched a live by peak prosperity, their talking about it changing too. Inflation still feeding through and dollars and pounds just devaluing away.

And there are people in Asia who have some absolutely stunning large rounds from China which they've been involved with. All sorts of stuff with people from all around the world. It really is quite a special forum to be fair. Monitoring on the other hand... that's just a bit of fun of course to while away the time, there's nothing serious to it so it tends to drift about a bit.

Depends which thread you're in. Some are very collector based or technical, others more banter styled. Some Jewellery or luxury item centric. Really depends. But lots of good little corners to explore with good knowledgeable people.

There are certainly a few openly female members who regularly post. And some who I've traded with in the trade section who don't declare. I don't even think about it.

Anyone here got an IG account? I'm curious to know what the proportion is of IG customers who are short right now. It must surely have gone down a bit today as they got spanked? And how many are still holding on for dear life?
