Hope everyone is well, I’m John from Scotland, I’m retired and have a few hobbies like watch repairing and small antique sales.  I’d like to learn how to perhaps buy some bullion coins that can be left for my family when I’m gone, or if I last another 20 years maybe a 5 star cruise for myself!!

Personally, bullion sovereigns and half sovereigns, 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz are my choice. If fortunate enough to procure gold frequently then I’d always rather see a Sov a month than waiting 4 months to get an ounce. Frequent dopamine hits keep me on the fractional coins and I do think long term they’re easier to shift assuming gold prices continue to rise

I do NGC grading and conservation work for many people here.    The cost of submitting is dependant on the service and things like labels etc.    The base price is £65.00, if you want this submitting to the NGC we can PM and that though the details.

@Falcon1985 I have submitted 100's of Jubilee sovereigns and 98-99% have got 70's, but theres no guarantee how a coin will grade I've got 12-13 PF70UC  proof 1/2 Jubilee sovereigns in my collection that I will hold as I feel these will do very well over time.

Good price and I've seen worse get pf70, but I've also seen better get pf69 unfortunately. Nobody can tell to a grade beforehand, not even the world renowned grader @GoldDiggerDave lol

Are all the scratch marks on the coin or the capsule?  I'd be a bit unhappy with it to be honest with you if on the coin.

I am no expert on grading but no one can guarantee you a coin that will get pf70. There are other experts who know more. Good luck

I received a replacement for the set that I returned further back in the thread due to frosting issues. Surprise, surprise, the set they swapped it out for had even more frosting issues. With the premiums we pay on these coins - I don't think it's too much to ask for coins that aren't littered with missing frosting.

The plan is to just keep getting this set exchanged until they send me one that isn't full of issues, or run out of substitute stock and just refund me.

After any coronation proofs I buy, I think I'll be back on a strict diet of best-value bullion.
