@Ducat916 I had the opertunity of getting a couple of SOTD sovereigns before they sold out almost immediately so I thought that when RM lowered the mintage from 650 to 450 the quintuple would’ve sold out as quick . Iv noticed a few days in and a few places still have them for sale . I have managed to get a few and will hold onto them long term hopefully they do become sought after . Time will tell I suppose . -

@Zhorro yes . My mistake I thought that was the one that was graded in that picture . However the bu that is due to release next week was originally supposed to be mintage of 650 now it’s only 450 . Woner why . Not too much interest? -

Im a bit confused . I pre ordered one of these from chards and they said it would only be available for dispatch from 17 July . Am I mistaken . Also it was originally supposed to be 650 mintage . Did I get all this wrong ? -

I really like these coins gold and silver something about them always pulls me towards them . I’m struggling to move towards sovereigns so I started getting the sovereigns that were minted in South Africa maybe it will make it easier to move away from Krugers . Lol

Today I found my South African 1 rand 1/10 proof coin given to me on the 30th anniversary of the first heart transplant. I have since lost the COA can anyone talk me how much does that effect the value . I think there were only like 2000 minted ?

Today I received my South African 1 and 1/2 pond coins . Even though I lived in South Africa I never realised that there were gold coins in circulation as normal currency .

Thanks guys . These coins are more sentimental than anything else . I was collecting them way back in 74 . A friend of mine who has silver Kruger rands asked me to show them to him and I wanted to present them clean . Might just keep them the way they are. Adds character . Thanks again .

It’s mad to think that in my day the coins circulating were silver and so big . Nowadays they want to move to digital so you won’t even be able to feel the notes or coins no more .

Hi all just going through old South African coins I have and came across silver 50c and 1 rand coins for 1964-1971 they are a bit tarnished so how could I clean them to look new again ?Here is a pic of just 2 of them
