I remember when the internet started it was to be the new wild west, everything was going to be free. Yet here we are today and it has become an advert mainline direct into the brain (thingy).

Yes, Google use to be fantastic now it's just one massive product search. Same with YouTube.

A gallon of gas. 

Referring to what you could have bought years a go with your money. Somone one here mentioned how much a suit cost the other day, but back then we didn't have Chinese sweat shops and Indian child labour.

Yup, I've heard that as well. Can't remember if it's a silver half dollar (some shiny denomination anyhoo)or not, worth today a gallon of gas as it was during the grapes of wrath.

The trouble with adverts is the same trouble that comes with trolls: the mere mention of them just gives them air.
