This shows the front cover of the book Phase Diagrams of Ternary Gold Alloys published by The Institute of Metals. Authors: Prince, Raynor and Evans.

Not a book aimed at gold investors or stackers, but possibly an important reference work for specialised metallurgists involved in any production or processing of ternary gold alloys.

Ternary = having three elements.

Shows solidus and liquidus points for all possible combinations of gold with two other elements.

Hardly an exciting read, but I did absorb much of it some years ago.

The section on Au:Ag:Cu being the longest, and the most relevant for coins, bullion bars, and gold jewellery.
