Silver blemish

Aggregate

Recommended Posts

Hello,

This is my first bar and it has a little brown blemish on it.  I bought it from a reputable dealer and their customer service said that happens during the minting process and it does not affect value, but I'm not seeing pictures online that resemble this blemish so I'd like another opinion.  Does this look like a normal blemish on silver bullion?

This bar is a basic bullion bar - it isn't something like a Royal Mint Una and Lion or a PAMP art bar.
If this were a coin it would matter b/c people like to have pristine coins - on the other hand in my experience there is a lot more leeway given to bars.
If it were my bar i would notice the tarnish - then i would put the bar in my treasure chest. It wouldn't bother me. Would it stop me buying a bar like this on the secondary market? No.

You could take the bar out of the OP and use something like Silver Dip but i would keep it in the plastic.

I personally would leave the silver bar inside the plastic wrapping.   But if it bugs you, you could remove the tarnish suggested by sixgun.   Or use the aluminum foil/baking soda/hot water method which I personally recommend.
