Just been researching about the vast number of gold coins around the same size as a sovereign, I'd totally be on board for collecting world gold coins around that size.

This is my thinking too. I don't actually have any sovereigns yet but have bought 8 different gold coins since I started in October, the largest being a half oz. I find the affordability and huge variety of the smaller coins more attractive than saving for the occasional 1oz coin, so my aim for this year is to buy a different coin between 1/10oz to sovereign size each month. The last one I received was a French 20 franc and there are many different coins around that size and price to collect.

Will throw in 10-20oz of silver now and then too.

I was looking on BBP the other day (I know, I know) under their new World Coins section under gold and there's a whole lot! I'll certainly be *trying* to get one a month.
