This will almost certainly be happening and then, afterwards, each tariff will be separately reassessed and you may not hear that bit in upcoming headlines (or you may)....so dont fall for any crazy headlines folks. A close friend works in the DTI and they were actually discussing this today at work.

It would be totally irresponsible to blanket cut tariffs on imported items; it would result in a huge balance of trade deficit.   Better to keep tarrifs high (particularly on cars & Luxemburg pate!) & subsidise proven UK  productivity/research.

So I am sure the Clowns will cut them.....

With lower tariffs, consumers will be richer and have a higher standard of living for all the cheaper goods, doesn't matter where they come from. Manufacturers that import parts, machinery, materials, ect will also benefit, translating into cheaper/more competitive UK products to export, what is not to like? Well the EU won't like it, they will not be able to match us as they will be skint. :D

The trade deficit is less about this tax.

Zero tariffs for 12 months then back to parity with the EU unless UK gov decides otherwise it says. It's economic leverage on the EU, be good to us after we leave, or we will keep tariffs low. They will have to give us a reason to raise them again.

If it's a trick on the public it's the wrong one, people following know by now that tariffs are not to our advantage. It's a poor attempt at spin for project fear if that's the intention.
