When exactly is slabbing appropriate ?

Not really sure how this works.

I understand the grading system but obviously not the process itself.

Also roughly what does it cost to have a coin graded?

Any info would be great. New to the forum and graded coins :)

I generally won’t grade a coin if it’s worth less than $500 because grading the coin is around $30-$50 and sending coins, rounds, and notes, with insurance, it’s about $30-$50 there and back. Prices and conduction varie but ALWAYS insure your packages when sending them to be graded.

How do I find how much the coin is worth before I send it off, I’ll seek out a reputable local coin dealer for an initial appraisal
