I started collecting world silvers a couple of years ago as a way of stacking silver close to spot, however as I exhausted the more common ones I have increasingly been drawn to more expensive coins (older US ones particularly). I thought by now I would have a clear goal with collecting such as only European 1850-1950 or British Empire only or something, however whenever I see coins from a new country I have to get them to add! I''m working my way through the catalog ticking off each coin (and variation). I haven't targeted key dates or low mintages but  instead keep which ever coin is in the best condition from those dates if that makes sense. As such, when I get a new lot in, if there is a coin with a different date within the range that is in better condition then I replace mine with that one.
I've decided not to collect proofs or non-circulating coins (but am collecting commemorative circulating) as otherwise the collection would be absolutely enourmous and with no definitive end date as countries are still producing silver proof coins. Also, although condition is very important, I like the fact that all my coins have been circulated and especially for the older ones feel that it is an important part of the coin. It's interesting to think what a 1850s half dollar would have been used to purchase or a Russian kopek at a time of war and famine and the kind of people who would have owned and used it before.
One day I'll work out what I want to collect and get more specific but until then I enjoy collecting everything and learning a lot about the history that goes with the coins

The standard catalog is great, I have the 1801-1900 and the 1901-2000 and am trying to collect as many (eventually all!) silver circulating coins from 1800 to 2000... so far about 350 down only about 30,000 to go!

Absolutely stunning collection of world silver there!
I received my very first 2.5 gulden yesterday as part of a job lot and I was blown away at how nice they are! Great size and design- I think it might be my favourite coin in my world silver collection!

Thanks! I've recently got into the older US coins. They're lovely coins but aren't cheap in nice grades! Came across these 2 which someone drilled (ouch) and half thought about putting them in the collection but decided against it

Some new silvers for the folder
ran out of small flips hence why some are unflipped.
First Brazilian, Latvian, Peruvian and Curacao(ian?!) Coins to date! Folder is getting quite heavy.
Some nice old US small ones.
Will be listing plenty of cheap world silvers tonight so stay tuned!

    Few more world silvers...
Crazy to think that the Russian coin was made in the aftermath of the Russian famine where over 5 million people died of starvation and many resorted to cannibalism.
Due to the hyperinflation at the time it would have taken 1,280,533,333 of these coins to make £1 in value at nominal exchange rate at the start of 1923 and 33,599,999,999 by the end of the year!

More world silvers 😃 some real nice ones today including my first half-dime and 2 great condition barber dimes.
Can almost read the word liberty on the 1/2 dime so not bad condition considering its age! and my first piece of USA .892 silver
Thanks @Tozer for the morgan and thaler- the thaler was a bit of a squeeze into the flip 😅
Damn this quarantine is getting expensive!

lovely coins and seriously low mintages. It's going to be an expensive and difficult country to collect all the silvers for!

Latest arrivals... was a long day yesterday researching and putting all these in flips. I think the Guiana 4d and British Honduras 25c are my favourites. Plus got my first peace dollar (I know its the wrong way in the flip but I put them in with the side I prefer)

    My first Belgian 5 franc
A pretty nasty chap but a lovely coin nevertheless.
These large European silvers have to be the most addictive coins to start collecting- such nice size and high silver purity and can be picked up just over spot!

Few more for the folder. Love the Fiji coins although they're only .500 and the Australian crown is a serious bit of silver to circulate in 1937!

2 more big ones for the folder
1871 Spanish 5 pesetas in great condition and a slightly more worn but equally as lovely 1897 Russian ruble. These Russian rubles have quite a high premium but are a great size and have lovely designs
