Thanks- yes its a stunner.  I had this conversation earlier with @sovereignsteve- probably not, I'm of the opinion that some coins are best left 'as is' and for me, this will be one of them.  I prefer my 1989 Set this way and when I eventually get my 1937 Set 😉 it'll be definitely be left in its musty smelling case for sure 😂

Thanks all- this will be my last purchase for quite some time (except some smaller easier on the wallet purchases)- I'm through with doing overtime to fund coins for a while- I'm stressed and burnt out with work-but I digress,  what a coin to go out on!  
I have swapped out most of my modern Sovereigns- save my beloved 2005 and 1989 sets in favour of the México Gold (and Silver).  
Anyway, this 2017 Five Pound Piece might well rekindle some desire for the Sovereign when I come back to buying. Its strange- that this 2017 Five Pound Sovereign cost me a tenner less than its release price- and it sat on Atkinsons website for at least 24 hours or so- I put it in my basket and took it out numerous times on Monday evening, I couldn't believe it was still there yesterday morning so I called Atkinsons for a condition report and spoke to Paul, he took a look at it and called me back and said 'I've nothing to report, except you should buy it'- he was absolutely right.  Anyway- On Monday evening, I did have a look at a  @Numistacker video from around the release time, and also had a look around for sold prices of late- but I also had a look around the forum and found this thread- sometimes amusing to look back and see the Forums views of new RM releases with hindsight:

Yes, nice coins Libertads.  I think I’m likely overexposed! 

Came in today- thanks to @PolarPanda for the Gold fractional Libertads; @Shinus73 for the Silver Libertad, @AndrewSL76 for the beautiful Krugerrand; @Jimmock for the Britannias and @GoldElliott for the USA & México coins. 

Arrived today my first Un Pesos ‘Caballito’.  Hopefully not my last.Bought from an eBay auction. 

Yes, a pity.  Beautiful design the Britannia- someone commented the other day, speculating that a 10oz Britannia coin might be something the RM could consider- I would like to see this- particularly if they resurrected the older special designs and equally the Oriental Britannia designs would look fabulous as a 10oz  coin.

I was hoping for the 1oz Silver Proof offerings to have a classic design such as the 5oz Silver and the larger Gold- I would have been in- I had the 5oz in and out of my basket more times than a whore’s drawers are dropped-  @kneehow2018‘s 1/2oz Brit came along to save the day! 
Mmm...yes- but @PolarPanda tempted me today into more of México’s finest- at least the Britannia will in a small way, redress some of the premium of the incoming Libs. 

Actually received yesterday from @kneehow2018- bought from him Monday morning- a steady, dependable 1/2oz Britannia in its OMP.
Bought as a reward to myself for resisting, and not allowing myself to be drawn into buying one of the 5oz Silver James Bond 007 Silver Proofs- it took a fair bit of resisting, nice lump of Silver.
Beware FOMO. 


 
 

Fantastic collection of Sovereigns particularly the first three portraits of Her Majesty. 

Wow! That is brutal- I wonder how many rarities get melted? Crying shame.

Just googled the 5oz Bermuda Triangle- no sad loss there!
But sad to hear Centenario’s hit the melting pot. 

Nice Libertad Set received today. A tiny 500 mintage of each weight of Gold Proof in 2015- all in sets.  Not an easy set to acquire.  With thanks to @Fivepoundfred for the opportunity to buy this beautiful set.

And a handy time to position yourself, buying on this current dip in Spot.  There’s only one way longer term for Gold.
