mintage of 167k so there will have been several dies (pairs) used. Also the Ansell gold was supposed to be less malleable than usual so I would guess the dies wouldn't last as long as for normal years.
I'm not sure how many coins would usually be struck per die pair but I'm sure I've read somewhere that the mint were disappointed that dies sent to Australia were only lasting for 8k coins.

Morgans in the range MS61 to 63 are readily available at fairly cheap prices for the common ones, raw ones even more so. They do fondle quite nicely. Once you know what a MS coin looks like, you can easily pick up raw ones to hold and admire.

They look a lot better in MS grade though

Looks quite disappointing imo for a proof coin. Not much shiny background on the ship side, looks more like a BU coin.

I would say probably, nice smart coin other than the area around the date. As long as those marks aren't enough to get a damaged details.

Makes you wonder where that has been kept for the best part of 200 years.
