UK coinage history books

Hi can anyone suggest any interesting books that cover the history of UK coins? Would prefer something thats an interested read rather than a manual or index style book, something i can get my teeth into this winter would be grand.

Coincraft 2000 Catalogue of English and UK Coins - although it would suggest it's just a price index, it actually has a lot of information in the coin introductions and section introductions. It goes into detail on engravers, designs, patterns and also rarities etc.

Nicholas Mayhew - A History of Sterling. Less so a history of the coins themselves and their designs, but more a history of the development of the currency, the development of the banking system, credit, banknotes, the gold standard, fiat currency and various debasements.
