The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

Couldn't you deposit them in the bank?

I am curious because I have some Portuguese coins issued by INCM, which I bought at face value, thinking I could always deposit them in the bank as a last resource if I need to sell them.

Some of them are regular 2€ coins but with commemorative motives, but others are 5 or 10€. I belive they are legally tender. As a last resource I could pay my taxes with it, I think...
