Recommendations for a pocket loupe?

Recommended Posts

I'd like to pick up a pocket loupe. I'd like something decent enough quality to be useful, but not fancy. Something good enough to get a clear look at micro-engraving etc. I'm not sure how this corresponds to pricing - prices start very low on Amazon for generic Chinese products but it's hard to tell how useful they are from reviews. Also I'm not sure whether it's important/worth it to get an illuminated one.

All suggestions welcome. (Well, all suggestions of pocket loupes :) )

The one I have meets my needs so I can recommend it. The brand is Levenhuk, you can check their product range on https://www.levenhuk.com/catalogue/magnifiers/series-zeno-gem/.

Illumination can definitely help. And it costs so little anyway that there is no reason not to choose the better option, in my opinion.

A mate bought me this for Christmas. No idea on price as i havnt looked but guessing not a great deal. Absolutely brilliant piece of kit. It comes with a lanyard if thats your thing that i must admit,  ive used a few times as i keep putting it down and losing it. From Amazon im guessing.

Thanks, both. I think that suggests that the inexpensive ones are worth a shot before spending more.

I guess so. As i sead, i dont know how much he paid. We usually get eachother a token gift at Christmas so wont have been silly money.
