Why is Copper Bullion being offered as a precious metal?

This happened in the strange nexus of circumstances where precious metal prices were getting "too expensive" for everyman, so everyman who had already bought into the basic theory thought copper might be the new silver.  It was weird, but some people were into it.  I wouldn't be against buying a copper round to keep as a collectible of the times, but certain not as a bullion investment.  If ever copper was a good investment at least buy something useful - copper nails, copper wire, something, or copper ingots stacked in pretty stacks on a pallet, but I don't know why anyone would ever do that when there's perfectly good precious metal that is easier to store.
