Milk Spots

Recommended Posts

I had a look at all my silver coins tonight for the first time since purchasing a lot of them. I was fully expecting a number to be blemished/ milk spotted particularly the usual suspects, RCM and Somalia. Much to my surprise after checking well over 150 Oz, not one has any mark or any kind of blemish. I am well surprised and happy with this. The only thing I can think of for this result is a tip by our @Fluttershy (where has she been) to put camphor in with coins when storing and keeping airtight , which I did. Anyone else have blemish free silver from the troublesome mints? I heard even Perth Mint is having its issues with spotting when reading posts on silverstackers.

Not at all sure what camphor would do, but why not? The whole milk spot thing is a curse which I'm not sure any mint really knows (or cares) about. The most common theory is about chemicals left over from washing planchets, but if it was that easy they wouldn't there be  a fix?

And yes, Perth Mint is becoming worse, I notice that even some of their premium Ag such as the Wedgies are prone to spots.
