Supposing silver to be a repository of value, like gold, how does selling it after holding it for time t work exactly?  Do the same brokers that sell it but it later at a commission?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!  Yes, most of the same companies that sell silver also buy from customers. They typically don’t charge a commission, but instead buy and sell at a spread, meaning they will buy the same coin or bar at a % lower than their selling price.

Selling here on the forum is another good option.

Thanks for the responses.  My question stemmed more from the idea of something as a gift rather than for myself, but in any case as something to hold for a decent amount of time after which presumably to exchange for some other form of value supposing that holding onto this or that forever would just end up being a kind of overpriced sentimental piece - at least if the coin or token were purchased at a time when the price and demand were very high.
