New to the forums, fairly new to stacking precious metals. I just bought an older silvertowne 10oz bar with a waffle back. Serial number is 00715. Anybody know ballpark what year this was produced?

Thanks!

i don't know the year but this may help you on your way. If this is your bar type with a 00715 serial number it would seem it is a First Series bar. As you can see these have a waffle back.

i see in the comments on this video Salivate Metal suggests it is from the 1980 or 90's

i think the easiest way to find out would be to drop Silvertowne an email.

Well that sort of does not surprise me. From what i understand Silvertowne starting stamping serial numbers of their bars and just kept the numbers rolling without distinguishing between bars or years, so a number is almost meaningless. The number is fairly low so it gives a bit of a guide i guess.

An expert in poured silver is Ken Conaway who i have heard mention has authenticated ingots and is a resource of knowledge. He might have an idea.

Ken's website is http://silveringot.blogspot.com.es/
