  1. I just sold some silver on eBay. I sold two identical items and got more for it today than i did last month. Even with the drop in silver price.

I know the fed has been talking about it for a while but i am hopeful for this supposed December rate hike. Assuming we have another drop i will re invest it then.

I can't see the being a second rate hike because the world economy is going to get messy before that comes about. At which point they will revert to avoid recession and prices will rocket.

British economy tends to do well towards Christmas so hopefully the pound will go up for a short while as well. Making for better buying power. All just temporary before brexit of course. :)

  2. Just to update you.

    They have finally refunded me.

I only returned the 2 panda trays and the damaged kooks because with everything it took the postage over 2kg making it very expensive to return.

I emailed them explaining what i had returned and calculated the amount i should be refunded.

Every time i emailed them they just kept repeating 'return the goods and we will refund you' Even after they were down as received on the tracking.. so i contacted the European complaints commission because i thought they were trying to rip me off.

In the end they refunded the amount for the full order.

I am still not really sure if they even received the returned goods. Hell i'm not even sure if they understood i didn't send it all back.

But i got some free silver so i'm happy.

Did you get a shipping confirmation when they shipped out your order?

I made the order last week, but haven't get anything yet.

Yea i did, maybe the payment hasn't gone through.

They ship a little slower than other sites I've used but it wasn't like it took ages either.

When following the link in the email to tracking it will only work in German. If you use the button on the DHL website to change it to English it wont let you track it for some reason.

  4.

The coins from the strait corner tray are consistent in thickness.

The ones from the rounder corner tray appear to vary in thickness when looking round the edge of the same coin.

The round corner tray is also the ones with the loosely fitting capsules.

That's not to say if you have a round corner tray its fake, i think there are genuine variances in the trays. From that link in my other post someone mentioned that there are a lot of reproductions of the round corner version though.

I'm still not 100% as i don't have the thickness gauge and they do look very identical. Still going to send them back. Will keep you posted.

You can see the different in the capsules from the position of the notches in this photo. the loosely fitting one is on the left its just the photo/lighting make the one on the right look fake.

  5. I don't have a thickness gauge but after swapping the capsules with one another i can tell that the coins are a different thickness...

I think they are both silver or a thick silver coating. I'm going to send the full order back.

I doubt the seller knew. They have probably just sold me what they bought off an individual rather than a mint.

  6. I just found another topic with someone else who got two different tray from one dealer.

Somene said:  ' I did an overlay to see if I can see differences.  I noticed that some blemishes appeared on both coins (see the red arrows).  If these coins are from different mints, they shouldn't have the same blemishes.  '

I think if the china gold corp issues the die to the mints though they would end up with the same blemished, right?

Hears a link to the topic. I don't think the guy every figured out if they were real. The last post ends with someone telling him to saw them in half.

    http://china-mint.info/forum/index.php?topic=12195.0

They don't mention anything about the capsules though. They are tighter than i thought after given them a push but still not exactly difficult to open.

  7. That other photo was of two coins. One from each tray, both from this same dealer. The opening bit is different sizes on each. Its difficult to see on photo.

I have also just noticed the trays are different.

One has the curved and the other has strait corners.

Looking on google images i can see both tray types. So maybe they just changed the packaging.

  8. 2016 China 1-oz Silver Smithsonian Bei Bei Panda Proof

    With COA

See photo of small but fairly obvious damage.

I suspect the damage has come from manufacture.

But please bear in mind i received this coin without the outer packaging and suspect it was given to me after another customer returned it. So i cannot grantee the capsule has not been opened / may have other marks.

I made a recent topic on this so you can refer to that for more information.

£45 plus you pay postage of your choice.

    Paypal f+f

  9. I think they are 1oz capsules because they have a small rattle.

So that might explain it but weren't the the pre 2016 panda be airtight as well?

Some of these capsules literally open in your hands there that loose.

These are my first of the standard Chinese panda so i don't have anything to compare.

On a more positive note i am very impressed with the quality of the coin. I can see why these are popular.

Yeah, my basket did that as well. I think it had something to do with holding the price are something to do with all the flashy stuff in the top right corner. Filled it 3-4 times before i got bored and went to bed.

Got home from work today and silver was at £14.20, i near pooped my panties. Straight onto goldsilver and they restocked the 2 lunar out of stock coins im after!!! Superman is out of stock but ehh well, it'll only milk spot and break my heart in the end. Order locked in at £14 spot on the button. Avg per oz for the order is looking alot better today over last night's avg. :)

Let us know how the order goes

    Arrived today.

I seem to be having really bad luck with all the dealers...

2 out of 5 kooks arrived cracked.

Whats very strange is one of the two panda trays ordered came with different capsules. I think this must have been a mint error because i cant understand why they would swap the capsules.

The different capsules aren't airtight and don't fit snug in the tray. They come open just trying to pop the panda from the tray.

They also have a smaller opening bit. Not sure if thats clear enough in the attached photo.

Anyone had this issue before with the 2016 panda?

The packaging was ok. I do wonder if ordering when the stocks so low runs the risk of getting someone else's returned goods.

I tested the pandas as i was very suspicious but they actually turned out to be real.

    Lunar dragons arrived all OK.

The only order I've been happy with so far was an order i purchased from someone on this site.

  11. Just made my first order with them after seeing this topic.

Did take a while to get my head round things. For some reason my basket kept reverting back to empty.

Everything i wanted was very low in stock.

I got a few 2016 panda and a few of the lunar year of the dragon. Best price i have seen on both of these.

Have been wanted the year of the dragon for a while but didn't want to pay over the odds. Seemed very reasonable.

Not that great for just cheap bullion coins though.

I've had a little think and I may go down the GovMint route instead of MCM.  The shipping with GovMint is cheaper at US$30 but it's not possible to complete an international order online so I would have to phone it through.  I have ordered from them before and now that my details are on the system it should be straight forward.  Estimated pricing as follows based on 20 pcs.

    US$1030 /1.3 (exchange rate) X 1.2 (VAT) = £950 + £15 (customs clearance) / 20 = £48.29 + £2.15 (1st signed) = £50.50 ish

Even with only 15 pcs the extra postage would take it up to £51.

Since postage is fixed with GovMint, the slabbed stuff is now a more viable purchase and is a matter of just adding on the price difference + VAT.

2016 China 1-oz Silver Moon Festival Panda Gem Proof are $20 more and it would work out at an additional £18.50

2016 China 1-oz Silver Moon Festival Panda NGC PF70 are $50 more and it would work out an additional £46.20

As it stands, I can go ahead with an order for approx 15 pcs with GovMint and would land delivered to you at around £51.

If there is anything that catches your eye on GovMint it can be added to the order.  Divide by 1.3 and multiply by 1.2 to give you an approx cost and then add on a suitable UK forwarding delivery charge.

This group buy will remain open for a couple more days.

Am looking to make my own bulk order.

Do GovMint allow bank transfer when you order over the phone. Or did you have to pay by card?

My bank has really bad exchange rates.

When i try to order via the site it says this item only ships within the US.
