PVC / Hard PVC & Coins

Recommended Posts

I've recently read tat PVC ruins coins, whether they're precious metals or base, it can cause 'coin cancer', which can spread to other coins from affected coins.

Now I was wondering, I'd bought a Leuchtturm Kaskade £2 coin album.

 It's show here...

https://www.leuchtturm.com/pocket-album-kaskade-uk-for-2-pound-with-4-permanently-bound-sheets.html

It says on the site that the album is free from chemical softeners but when I received it it says the plastic pages and/or inserts are made of hard PVC.

Will this screw up my £2 coins if I put them in it?

Unfortunately the album is too small to accept coin capsules, so I can't put the coins in them first.

I have some old silver shillings and silver US quartets in a similar type of album.

Another thing are money bags, the type you get from banks and post offices, made of PVC?

Are zip-lock / drug type bags (I don't know the official name.) also made of PVC?

If PVC, whether hard or not is a problem, I've heard acetone removes whatever is left on the coins by the PVC but will the acetone damage my coins?

Are the coins best off taken out of the PVC and left or taken out and cleaned with acetone?

Thank you in advance!
