PansPurse got a reaction from Gruff in Today I Received.....
Let's just say that a hobby of speculative eBay bidding is not a great idea... Consequently I really really don't plan on buying any next month... probably

Oh that's gorgeous, I love the way the stands feel like a mount for a globe, brings out the nautical feel

Ooh lovely, always felt a bit conflicted over the art deco Una and lion, but it's definitely growing on me

@JunkBond you could also do a specific gravity test. If it's too thick but low on weight that suggests it's a less dense material, so s.g. should offer a clear red flag

Some 50% silver half crowns and my free 1/2 oz courtesy of @BackyardBullion and the European Mint (lovely coin, and impeccably packed as always):
Also, is it just me, or have they somehow given the Queen gills to match the shark?

1889 Jubilee head silver crown:
Somebody has polished the **** out of it but some lovely detail, especially on the reverse

Yeah, I figured. But technical problem solving is beyond me so figured I'd give a text description, especially because it's not a particularly interesting photo

Copy of "the half gold sovereign" by Michael Marsh. Good but surprisingly thin. Easily read in one sitting and handy reference. Sadly gives up after George V so no discussion of recent half sovs

British trade dollar:
Now riddle me this, it came with a COA but I can't figure out who it is that issued it? Anyone able to shed some light?

The florin was only introduced properly in 1849 (1848 ones are very rare). However after some criticism they changed the design; most notably including dei gratiam (or an abbreviation thereof) and changing to using Roman numerals. The absent dei gra on the 1848/9 florins led to them being colloquially referred to as "Godless florins"

Another godless florin... Won't go into the ridiculous lengths I had to go to to retrieve from the post office

Half sovereign, 1903 Edward VII. Part of dynamic stack plan (don't you dare call it an impulse buy... )

Met up with @StackerNoob at the London coin fair yesterday and obtained one of the 2017 Silver Forum 1oz bars
@BackyardBullion can I put my name down for this serial number (101) for this year's 1oz bars?

Some more antique silver:
1849 gothic florin. The inscription omitted the traditional Dei Gra (by God's grace) so these were dubbed godless florins.
Plus an 1818 George III shilling (I think)
perhaps one to send off for grading...
