It was VAT and I'm only VAT registered in the UK. And Croatia is saying I can't get the money back. I hate central governments so much, absolute thieves.

Hi, so I travelled to Croatia with my wife and brought my silver bullion with me. I purchased this second hand silver in the UK. When I arrived at Croatia I was forced to pay VAT on said silver. I am now moving back to the UK with my silver. Can I get my money back from the VAT I paid to Croatia? If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. Than you.
